Hi, my name is Chico, I am 60+ years old and an EX professional designer and maker of gold, silver and platinum jewellery. I say Ex maker and designer as I no longer make jewellery for a living. I have over 40 years experience and had a high street shop in South West England for many years before retiring over 10 years ago.
I now want to cut and polish my own gem stones. I have always bought in finished stones for my designs - mostly cabs but many faceted stones as well.
I have lots of ideas for new designs with ODD shaped cabs in them, and want to cut and polish my own stones to suit my new designs, but don't really know where to start finding raw slabs.
I am in SW England, which may be a problem with postal cost etc, but I really want to have a go.
Can anyone help me source rough slabs of all kinds of gems - maybe a mixed bag of slabs to start with.
