Hello! I am an elementary science teacher from Reno. I recently moved from Hawai'i and happened to have a ton of obsidian and other beautiful volcanic specimens collected from when I lived on the islands. Needless to say, my students became utterly fascinated with these rocks and so I started trading them (mostly for granite at first ) just for fun at first but it has evolved into a full-blown geology class with them bringing rocks to trade from all over their travels! Our classroom collection has grown quite beautifully and there are 6 children who have begun some impressive rock collections of their own! Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has any local spots that I might be able to collect for our classroom and have some interesting 'nevada-local' rocks to gift to them and hopefully further inspire their exploration and love of the outdoors! Obviously doesn't have to be anything rare but something that would wow kids would be much appreciated. Thank you for any information! Chriostopher
