Hello from Texas. The rock I have here came from a dredging operation that has included many different pieces like the one I am picturing. Being a beginner, I have not had a lot of practice identifying rock types but I am slowly getting better. I believe this rock is extrusive igneous. I have eliminated pumice as this rock is heavy and harder than any pumice I have had contact with. I thought possibly scoria or basalt but I am uncertain because of its light color. Any suggestions would be great. And yes, I have been through a few books and all over the internet. Nothing has convinced me yet. Thank ! -Brad
