Hi. Followed a joke post on Facebook to get here. I live on Vancouver Island, BC. Canada and am a member of the Courtenay gem and mineral club. We have about 20 members, maybe 10 show up and help do the doing.
When my husband and I started roaming the back logging roads 14 or so years ago, everything was open. Now the gates are locked and with our still burning fires, I doubt that we will get in anytime soon. We have made trips to Washington State and Oregon and walked beaches, collected thunder eggs at Richardson's Ranch and polka dot agates nearby (pay to dig or collect sites). I recommend both very highly.
I am up for trading but shipping costs limit this. Contact me if you have a lot of stuff and want some of our stuff. We have: Dallasite, white quartz and epidote, flowerstone (phenocrysts of feldspar in basalt), red jasper....
We fully intended to do a trip across Canada but my husband is now affected by a heart attack. We won't go that far anymore. There are some great collecting sites: Thunder Bay amethyst, agates on the east coast, various stuff on the shores of the great lakes (our side).
Anyway. That's me. Rock on.
