Have had this rock in the family for around 30 years. My grandparents received as a gift from friends who were out in the Eastern Panhandle of WV near Charlestown / Harper's Ferry. My grandparents were told it is a meteorite. It had sat out on their porch or outside their front door until two weeks ago when I retrieved it from a family member whobwaa going to toss it in the ground along with a decent size chunk of coke from the town's now closed coke plant.
I had images sent to some folks who run a science program in the area as well aa showing it to two of my colleagues who teach Earth Science. They couldn't identify.
A student at the same school I work at suggested it is a geode.
It does not stick to a magnet. When a light is shone on it, the whole thing lights up.
Any comments are welcome.
