I'm new to this forum so i want to say hello to everyone, but i have a question. I just got my first gieger counter in the mail. Its a CRM-100, I tested it on a piece of uranium glass I had and it works perfectly. I live in NC and I'm wondering if I could find uranium ore with it. There is a nice creek i know in the mountains that has loads of rocks, so I thought about looking there with it, but I'm unsure if there is any uranium ore. So I'm wondering where i could find any. If you have any suggestions please leaves a post, thanks.

There is no uranium ore to be found in the quarry in Easton, PA. I lived near the quarry and have been there numerous times, nothing of interest to be found! The member above (paleogeology) that commented, loves to waste peoples time! She messaged me also but when you email her back, she just sends religious bull***t. She should be booted off this forum!

There is lots of radioactive stuff around Spruce Pine, NC. While looking for large schorl crystals near an old gold mine on Clemson University property, I found a black mineral with conchoidal fractures that was definitely not schorl. Dr. Richard Warner, Head of Clemson's Geological Sciences found it was radio active and later identified it as Betafite with about 28% uranium. After finding other radio active minerals at the site which were in the Niobium/Tantalum family (Fergusonite and Samerskite-Y) he published a paper in the 2004 journal SC Geology, V44, pp 13-25. If you want to come this way, I'd be happy to obtain permission to return to this site with you. Dr. Warner might accompany us. Ted Wallenius (Friar Ted)
