Hi all,
I'm a novice rock kicker with a small personal collection of rocks and fossils, but I inherited a property a few years ago from my grandparents, who were rockhounds around Wyoming and South Dakota for probably 50 years. The yard is stacked with what I'd estimate to be several tons of rock; agate, jasper, petrified wood, quartz, fossils, and a whole bunch of stuff that I can't identify. I've just started cleaning out their old shed, and am finding all sorts of small specimens in old coffee cans (about 20 cans so far), jars and boxes. I'm overwhelmed by the collection and am really hoping to find some help identifying at least some of this beautiful collection.
If anyone happens to be in the Black Hills region and would like a first-hand look I'd be happy to provide a tour in exchange for identification info
