Hello fellow Rock Hounds!
I'm a guy from North Florida, very interested in expanding my knowledge of minerals. I have many years experience in fossil collecting and paleontology, but the mineral thing is very new to me. I don't really know whether or not there's a lot for me to find around here (I know I can find "agatized coral geodes"), but I'm willing to learn even if I'm not in the best place for it.
I'm looking forward to reading through some old threads here and meeting some members on here.
-Rocky
P.S., I got the username from my Great Grandfather who used to call me that when I was 4, because I was aaaaalways looking down picking up cool rocks.

Your Grandfather was a positive thinker...instead of calling you Rocky he could have said you have rocks in your head...just met a bunch of rock hounds from Fl. last Sat. their rock club is in Jacksonville, and I met them in middle Ga. and I'm in SC. Good luck on your hunting and the rock and mineral world...

Welcome from Brevard county, Fla. If you haven't already done so, join a local rock club and hopefully they will have e road trips to places north where you an find more minerals.
Agatized Coral, and Fossilized clams are the majority of what is on the west coast, nothing on the east that I have found. But I wish you luck on your journey to minerals, it can be a lot of fun.
