I am new to collecting and this rock seems very interesting to me. It was found in a stream in northern middle TN. I thought it was a geode but the color is different from the usual finds in this area. The out side is brown with yellow looking quartz in certain cavities and on the outside. There are also some white/clear looking quartz pockets also. Also it is about the size of a softball if I have left anything out please ask me. Any ideas?

I am no expert nor will I ever claim to be but your rock sure looks like some I have collected here in E.TN...I took them to a local rock shop in NC and was told chert or chalcedony...Now I could be wrong since I am judging by the look of it to mine.
