Just met an interesting fella named Danny. He likes to dive. He found some ore material in a ship that sank in the Atlantic around the turn of the last century. It is about 120' of water so kinda not to ez rockhoundin unless you can hold your breath a loooooong time. He said he has had it a couple of years and never messed with it. I immediately sliced some up and cut a cab from it. Yowza. Thats nice. He gave me a couple of pieces and here they are. I think I need to get some more. It is very seldom used for pendants or jewelery. I sure don't know why. It has amounts of gold silver and copper in it. But polished out it looks like pure gold. It was very hard to photograph be cause the shine is so bright. You can see me in the bottoms.

The man has been contacted by interested people. In fact some has been sent to be assayed. I kinda wonder myself what I am grinding on lol. It makes the water black as hell. But it cuts real EZ and is not hard on equipment. Becka brass is made by combining copper and tin. So it aint brass. If its fools gold its makin a fool outa me. I am just not sure at all. I don't want to grind a 1 1/2 oz. piece up for a pendant and loose 40% of the material in the process. Heck gold is like $1,250.00 an oz.. That would be a nice pendant though..lol Even as copper ore though. The amount that is down there is worth a lot of money and will probably dictate that there will be a total salvage operation for it. Then again you know what they say about if its too good to be true then it probably ain't. To grind or not to grind. Dream on I say grind it... lol Jim

Hey Jim, not sure what Becka brass is but brass itself is made of copper and zinc, not tin. Bronze is made of copper and tin.

LOL Becky... Becka brass is what you will get if you mess with the rocks in the bowl by her window. And I bet she has a lot of ways to fire it to... Thanks for the Metal lesson. I knew the ancients used bronze after copper. But the add mixture? Now I got it... Thanks

It looks real, If it is gold, take a small piece of scrap with the yellow showing and tap it with a hammer. If it disintegrates, it is fools gold. If it bends and flattens it is native metal...GOLD!

Jim, Did you ever get to see the assay on this material? It looks nice whatever it is.
Chalcopyrite?

chests of ore on a ship, had to be valuable enough to be worth transporting. that looks exactly like the gold in quartzite from NC. difficult to extract for smelting, best used in cabs. most people understand the loss of content from polishing, and cabs usually go for several times higher than their gold content is worth. also, be sure to save the sweepings! much easier to collect the metal from that dust in your tray than from a piece of silicate. you've done the hard part already, bag it up and send it to your trusted metal buyer. in what general area was it collected? I'd guess somewhere in the atlantic, probably near the NC coast. Very cool!

Jim,
Long time no see... Just popped back in for a looksee and was browsing some old threads. Like this stuff... Did you ever find out what it is? To my untrained eye, it looks like "mohawkite" a compound of silver, copper, arsenic, cobalt, nickle and iron.
Just curious what you figured out, love the cab!

Hi I’m new in the kimberlite market on eBay only heard they of kimberlite and it’s rare ability to hold diamonds from within the earth about a month ago. I have since realized that I have rocks of those nature in my collection. Once jokingly placing a crystal in the palm of my girlfriends hand and laughing saying here’s a diamond it’s your best friend and I tossed it on the ground it was a nice sized one. Now I find out it’s not a joke at all and I have diamonds. Funny thing is out of all the treasure hunting I do the rock hound areas I’ve been visiting there are two kimberlite clay pipes and licks me they both contain diamonds. One being known for rock hounding in California and the other being a secret of mine in AZ is loaded with diamonds.
on eBay I have a discounted deeply the items of kimberlite and Kimberlite clay from the top of the pipe it shot out of and all with diamonds so please today the 26th of March is the last day I’ll be discounting the rare and expensive kimberlite products up to 4400%-1900- market value so if it’s not to much of a hassle to mention it to your family friends and rock hounding partners to glance at my eBay page I’m the only low price on there I’m in a crisis of needing a probate wills and trusts lawyer ASAP and can use some support by fellow hounding members and treasure hunters.
i have diamonds many many many diamonds and even huge rough uncut white diamonds heavy ones up to 347ct multiples of them I found in a pocket and I need a price on them and if any one can do so I’ll part with one for future services in advanced payment like deal I have tons of kimberlite for sale and auction I sell out faster than I can post. I need the masses to see them I have over 7-12 types all barring diamonds from black to white clear to yellow to orange to grey to milky to red to green all of the above iv found in this kimberlite clay and kimberlite rocks I’m looking to trade for a rock crusher I’d like to get one ASAP.
