Hi to all. Since I can't hunt due to my surgery I though I would show you some of the materal I found the Friday before my surgery. The specimens come from the Holston River Quarry in Dublin,VA. There are only a few kind of mineral specimens to be found there. Calcite is the one most found and some can be very nice. You can also find rare Strontianite at this locatin that are as good as any I have every seen or found. They are small most of the time but very good crystals of Strontianite. On this last trip I found a new mineral that I have been told was there but was rare to find in the quarry. Celestite is the mineral and all are very small. Here are a few photos of the specimenst I found. . A Calcite ball in pocket.( 1") . A specimen about 6" x 5" with a crystal about 1" in the pocket. . Calcite with Strontianite. . A large specimen about 16" x 8" of Calcite. . Calcite balls in pocket ( 3" ). . Strontianite on small calcite. 5" x 4". . Strontianite in Pocket. 3" x 3". . Closeup of pocket of Strontianite. . The hard to find Celestite with Strontianite. About a 1" pocket. . Strontianite on Celestite. Pocket about the size of a quarter. This location has plenty of material but is hard to get in to collect. Most of the time you have to go with someone who has been there before. Never open on Sat. and most of the time clubs can not get in. They like small groups. (2 to 4) people. Hope you like the photos and I do have plenty to sell (cheap) or trade. Riviera ;D
