Took part in a Berks Mineralogical Society field trip over the weekend. We revisited Dyer Quarry where we earlier found chabazite specimens. While there, someone uncovered a nice pocket of stilbite crystals and was nice enough to share with the rest of the group! Apparently, these stilbites are in an unusual form for that location and none of the experienced club members had ever seen specimens quite like this before. Overall, the pieces give the impression of ice crystals covering the rock underneath. They have a greenish tinge to them, but I believe this is from the color of the matrix underneath. After looking at a magnified view, the crystals themselves appear fairly clear. Here are some photos and you can see all of them at my site: home.comcast.net/~gronkus/dyers.htm

Gronkus - Nice stuff man! Thanks for posting the photos. Make sure you go back sometime soon and get plenty more, so we can all swap for some the next time you head down to the mountains to see us!

Steve - I'll see what I can do, but given the scarcity of this stuff, I might not get any more any time soon. But I have a bucket of it and certainly have some available for trade. And I certainly want to visit you all down there as soon as I am able! Take care - Dave
