I need help in Northern Va

I am really interested in looking for gems and stones in my area, but i have no idea how to go about doing so... I have read like a million sites and I'm totally confused and just want to go find pretty stones but nothing I've read is helpful... i was wondering if there as anyone willing to help me do some rock hunting in loudoun county. i really need help... I could totally use some expert advice...

There are bound to be local mineral clubs in your area. I would first check with them. Most take field trips and it is a great way to enter rockhounding.
