I'm looking to buy a 8inch flat lap. Any suggestions/issues? Anyone have one for sale?

Sort of an open ended question. What will you be using it for, faceting or cabbing? Will it be to shape, pre-polish or polish? All sorts of grit sizes to choose from, and they can be purchased from various dealers. Graves sells them as does Inland and many others. I would not recommend buying used laps, as they are probably pretty well worn out.

Okay, do I feel stupid. You meant a flat lap 'machine' didn't you. That's what I get for doing this before noon. Cyberrockhound.com has used machines for sale at times, so you might check there.

Mike, Thanks for the reply. They didn't have anything used. I've been ussing an old graves single wheele ans wanted to try a flat lap, and eventually go to faceting. Any suggestions on brands? Thanks Bill

Inland makes a neat little combo unit that works great. It is a flat lap, saw & small drum unit combo. I have one and have had it for 4 or 5 years and it still works fine. I am sure there are lots of other options, but this one works and isn't all that expensive.

I just bought an 8 inch hi tech flap lap, love it so far. It came with 180-14000 grit plates. Will let you know how it goes. Thanks Bill
