Help with purple rhyolite identification. I live near Raleigh NC an found a Guilford point made out of a purple rhyolite. So I did a quick web search an two locations popped up. One was Mount Rogers area in Virginia, the other was Johnson's Shut-Ins State Park Missouri. From what few pictures of rhyolite samples that I could find from these two locations the best match was Missouri. I know this is a half a$$ identification but I find it interesting to think of how this material made its way here. Thought I would share this an see what some of you think. The attached picture shows the Guilford point and a picture of the Missouri rhyolite. Attachments:
