Ooooh, yep, id be diggin on that allrighty. Lools fun. Buckshot, have you any conjecture as to the nature of the corundum deposit on your farm? Do you find it in rocks or veins? Or is it always loose crystals and chunks? I am wondering if indeed there is a mafic formation or some type of dunite or zoisite associated with and/or producing the corundum, intruded by a pegmatite or is the corundum the result of an alluvial deposit laid down long ago when an ancient stream , river, ocean, etc crossed through your area. Just thinking out loud, great pics! Really wish I could come see for myself if I didnt live so darn far away. Good luck, and as mentioned, keep your eyes peeled on those outer contacts and watch those quartz chunks for hexagonal crystals! Also be mindful of the less obvious as others mentioned, autunite and hyalite can go unnoticed at first. Thanks and keep us updated.

Some good questions asked, Ryan! Yea, please elaborate a little on the corundum you are finding, Buckshot!

Ryan & Barrett, All of corundum except for one small stone about 1/3 the size of your hand which had maybe 5 small rubies in it had been alluvial. I've had a couple of thoughts on the stone from people more knowledgeable than me and some said the stone the rubies were in is fushite and some said zoisite, it looks like it could be either from pictures I've saw of each. All rubies that I've shared on here in the past and some I've made into cabachons have either come out of a larger stream downstream on farm or a smaller stream which feeds into the larger stream. The environment for most of the nicer rubies has been in small stream associated with green sand which the local geological survey folks said was epidote and the rubies have a greenish/mica shist on them. Wish I knew more, I have some larger outcrops across the larger stream which are green and I was told by someone who had been to the chunky gal that these looked identical, however I've not saw any rubies of corundum in them yet.

In the vein found a couple pieces of feldspar with mica and a hint of something green, soaked in Super iron out overnight and the feldspar became really white with a band of beautiful green in each piece and after taking it out and soaking it in water the feldspar became a duller white and green began to disappear and now can hardly see the green, it is back like it was originally. What was this and is this something that might flouresce ?

What a great thread to read and learn from. I would like to thank all of you for what each of you have contributed to this. Buckshot...congrats of your finds and thanks for the photos. Makes anxious for spring and my visit to Franklin, NC.

Buckshot, try the feldspar under sw UV (Under 365nm). A lot of the Chunky Gal feldspar will fluoresce under sw but not longwave UV. The usual fluoresence of the feldspar from the Gal ranges from white to pale green to yellow. Also, check the green rock with a 400 nm uv. Even the smaragdite at Chunky gal that has no visible ruby or very little or pale colored corundum glows bright red in spots under uv.

Not done much lately has an overhang of material and concerned about possible cave in, so stopped temporarily for now, I'm going thru some ruby material on good days, found one last week.

Worked some on the vein today still no gemstones, instead of digging up towards surface and concerned about cave in, backed out a little and dug downward no gemstones yet but finding small quartz in matrix of feldspar. Looks a little more promising. Am going to try and attach a couple more pictures inside the pegmatite. Attachments:

Your going to find some good material, I know you are. Just keep working at it and you will be rewarded.

Any updates Buckshot? Curious to see what if any gems come outta that peg. Good luck, hope all is well. Ryan No gems, haven't did much lately, man it was lovely here today, metal detected old gold mine tailings today with friend from Alaska/Tennessee didn't find any nuggets but he gave me some tips and I showed him around the farm, where rubies and sapphires and gold were and we found handle to an old cooking pot of some sort and other trash. I'm backing off the vein for the time being and getting ready to get back after the rubies & sapphires. How is your child, forgot whether boy or girl but you are blessed either way. I've still been trying to figure out where the corundum zone is, I'm sure what I've found is in it but not sure which way it goes away from the stream to the hillside. Sorry Hiddenite was not kinder to the group when you went there, I was late signing up.

Ryan: Thanks, I've not dug any yet, but on the surface really mineralized is mica, quartz, feldspar and some real soft black which could be schrol. Nothing really to bust at the surface except digging in the vein which is soft except for the quartz & feldspar. Will post any pictures if I find anything if I remember the procedure, not too good at that. Ryan, a friend and I went to the Crabtree this past month and the material on my farm doesn't look like the material at the Crabtree unless it is covered in the vein. I've had someone who knows more about geology than I say this is a typical pegmatite vein. George: Who knows about the kimberlite pipe, there have been diamonds found in the stream that flows through the property, largest ever found in NC was found in this community, 4 1/3 carats. I know some on this forum may think I'm just talking, but I'm only telling what I see. Hi I’m new in the kimberlite market on eBay only heard they of kimberlite and it’s rare ability to hold diamonds from within the earth about a month ago. I have since realized that I have rocks of those nature in my collection. Once jokingly placing a crystal in the palm of my girlfriends hand and laughing saying here’s a diamond it’s your best friend and I tossed it on the ground it was a nice sized one. Now I find out it’s not a joke at all and I have diamonds. Funny thing is out of all the treasure hunting I do the rock hound areas I’ve been visiting there are two kimberlite clay pipes and licks me they both contain diamonds. One being known for rock hounding in California and the other being a secret of mine in AZ is loaded with diamonds. on eBay I have a discounted deeply the items of kimberlite and Kimberlite clay from the top of the pipe it shot out of and all with diamonds so please today the 26th of March is the last day I’ll be discounting the rare and expensive kimberlite products up to 4400%-1900- market value so if it’s not to much of a hassle to mention it to your family friends and rock hounding partners to glance at my eBay page I’m the only low price on there I’m in a crisis of needing a probate wills and trusts lawyer ASAP and can use some support by fellow hounding members and treasure hunters. i have diamonds many many many diamonds and even huge rough uncut white diamonds heavy ones up to 347ct multiples of them I found in a pocket and I need a price on them and if any one can do so I’ll part with one for future services in advanced payment like deal I have tons of kimberlite for sale and auction I sell out faster than I can post. I need the masses to see them I have over 7-12 types all barring diamonds from black to white clear to yellow to orange to grey to milky to red to green all of the above iv found in this kimberlite clay and kimberlite rocks I’m looking to trade for a rock crusher I’d like to get one ASAP. my eBay name : Jor-gra-diewqxq1 Email: graphicbadger92@icloud.com text number is: 928-224-5757 names John Ruiz I’m a treasure hunter and new future product inventor / new member thanks for the inviting welcome to the site hi and message me with references thoughts on my eBay page or items of interests deals and or just friendly chat thank you all
