It look like this might be the last year that MPM will be open for collecting. Sorry to loose the site. As a field trip chairman for a local club it is getting harder to find locations for the club to collect at.

What a shame another site closing to collectors. The specimins and material you have collected are gorgeous.....great finds and good job at the cleaning too! By the way folks this material can cut fabulous cabachons, especially if you can get the variation of green and yellow/green shades together.

Hello! So I'm new to this message board, and have just started to skim the threads. I live south of Rochester ny and would love to learn more about collecting at MPM! Coming up soon up here is the Walworth open house and id love to talk in person with anyone who could fill me in on any chances of a dig @ MPM.

I might be at the Walworth open house. Depending if I get the deck done. If not I'm sure that several individuals that collected at MPM will be in attendance. I believe the Rochester club been in MPM several times.
I do know that collecting at MPM is touch and go. A non-friendly rock-hound company is looking at buying the Quarry. They're taking core samples this month, before making the final decision.
