This is 8" x 6" x 6". First picture it looks banded. Second picture is turned 90 degrees and looks massive.

Yep, Ken. If you have anymore questions we're always glad to help. It reely looks like a rhyolite to me, Ken, but then again the green is gemmier than I've seen before. I'm not sure if it's the water that is making it look like that or what. Any idea where it came from? Joe

No idea where it came from. Top picture shows that it is layered all the way through. bottom one shows the color. Bright green. All I can come up with is actinolite. But don't think it is.

Ken: That material is called Mariposite and comes from just over the hill from where I had my ranch in Mariposa County, Calif. It's a combination of green fuchsite mica, quartz, dolomite and a few other minerals and is often associated with goldmines in the area as an ore. The green mica is caused by chromium. Kind of mixed hardness and hard to polish but very pretty and only found a few places in the world....Mel
