This is a slab cut from a damaged hammerstone found at a camp or village that has become a trash dump for the city. Any ideas what it is?

That's cool. I have been meaning to cut some old beat up hammerstones but have never gotten around to it. It would be good to have some slabs of different hammerstone materials. I don't have any idea what that rock is but it might help to see it wet. Could it be some type of cemented iron concretion?

Yeah, I'll agree. That's what it looks like it could be and I know pet wood and palm wood are found in the eastern half of NC, so no doubt, eastern GA as well. Ya know, I envy people like jpolk who seems to be able to slab up a bunch of rocks as easy as 123. ;D For me, the list of rocks to cut just keeps getting longer and longer, but this has inspired me to move the hammerstones up on the list some.

The saws sitting ready. I'll cut slabs for some of the rough. I like the pun Arapaho.
