I would say Garnet also. I have found several glacier deposited rocks simular to this rock that had garnets peppered in it. Some have bigger ones, usually not inclusion free, but they cab nice.

I'd also call it garnet. I have four rocks similar to this I found in the glacial deposits here in NY. I also have some in a more sandstone like material. Garnet is fairly common in the sands in the glacial deposits in NY that I've been sluicing and panning for gold.

I think it is garnet too... See if it scratches a piece of quartz, it should. That might mess up the specimen though, there are other tests...
