We spent yesterday afternoon collecting at the Garnet Hill location off of Highway 98 near Wake Forest. There are still loose garnets everywhere, and with a little work (and much hammering), some gemmy garnets can still be found. I also found a nice sillimanite specimen (correct me if I'm wrong, it's been awhile since I took metamorphic). Enjoy! Attachments:

your specimen is actually kyanite. Cool finds!
