Here are some pics of a huge specimen of petrified wood. Jens parents got this in central BC 30 yrs ago. IT sits on their mantle. It is about 30" or more tall and super heavy. My house and my car are in the background.

You say it sits on the mantle, what is the mantle made of I beam steel... :) My poor mantle is sagging and I suspect that some day it will just fall off and take most of the wall with it.
