Not being a mineral guy, I’m wondering how common these inclusions are in amethyst. The plate is 6” by 9” and weighs over 7 pounds. Most of the points have multiple golden sprays of what looks like rutile, about 1/8” long. (The gal that gave it to me said it was from Arizona, but whether it’s actually from Arizona or she just bought it there, who knows.)

She might have picked it up at one of the shows out here, but it looks like South American material. Definitely a very nice piece. Four Peaks produces some fantastic amethyst but I have never seen any minerals associated with it other than hematite.

That's likely cacoxenite and not rutile.
Cacoxenite has been found at DH but not in association with Amethyst (atleast not to my knowledge) but ya never know.

That's likely cacoxenite and not rutile. I think you nailed it, Dave. Thanks. Cacoxenite can be found in many locations in Europe, southeast US, Pima County AZ. (none shown for South America) Here’s a few other pics of similar sprays. Very nice indeed. Great close-up pics as well. Where did you get it again? I'd like to buy a specimen if possible.
